Responsibilities
  • Assist with enforcing and adhering to company, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), and risk management policies and procedures on construction projects.
  • Support identification, elimination, and control of hazardous conditions to prevent injuries and property damage.
  • Assist with providing training for safe work practices and implementing Building L.I.F.E. (Living Injury Free Every Day) and EH&S programs, policies, and procedures for project and trade employees.
  • Assist with reviewing subcontractor safety programs for completeness and compliance with company policies, regulations, and owner contract requirements.
  • Assist with reviewing subcontractor training per OSHA standards and promoting safe work practices and conditions in accordance with regulations and contractual requirements.
  • Assist with administration of the drug screening program (pre-employment, post-accident, random, etc.) in alignment with company and project owner requirements.
  • Assist with coordination of preconstruction meetings and conduct effective worker orientation programs, including administration and participation records.
  • Assist with gathering Pre-Task Plans (PTPs) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for project contractors based on contractual requirements.
  • Assist with maintaining safety records (PTPs, JHAs, training records, toolbox talks, OSHA 300 log, MSDS, chemical inventory sheets, incident investigations and metrics).
  • Assist with conducting safety meetings, recording and issuing meeting minutes, and maintaining logs of toolbox safety meetings for subcontractors.
  • Assist with safety audits and work area inspections, developing inspection summaries with corrective actions, and reporting violations to subcontractors for immediate resolution.
  • Assist with identifying and reporting safety violations or unsafe practices, with emphasis on imminent danger situations.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or related field, plus a minimum of 1 year of related construction safety experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques.
  • Familiarity with Federal, State, and local EH&S regulations.
  • Familiarity with general construction operations.
  • Ability to identify safety-related exposures and propose corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take direction and follow through with commitments.
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Analytical thinking, good judgment, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in non-structured environments and adapt priorities with management direction.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools; basic data entry skills.
  • Limited travel may be required; access to reliable transportation.
Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Work occurs primarily at construction sites with exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, varying weather conditions, and potential electrical hazards. Noise is typically moderate to loud at construction sites and usually quiet to moderate in office settings. Compliance with company safety policies and applicable laws is required.
