Job Overview

Schneider is seeking a Freight Broker Intern in Chicago, IL to provide support to Schneider’s sales team. The Freight Broker Intern will gain an understanding of transportation, sales and customer service through training opportunities and hands-on work assignments.

Responsibilities
  • Prospect new carriers and connect with existing third-party companies.
  • Coach carriers how to use our digital tools to improve their business needs.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers.
  • Communicate with drivers and carriers to update and track shipment status.
Internship-specific Opportunities
  • Networking events with Schneider associates.
  • Professional skills trainings led by Schneider leaders.
  • Business resource groups meetings and events.
  • Volunteer activities.
  • After-work social gatherings.
Skills And Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled at a college or university.
  • Working toward a bachelor’s degree.
  • Able to work full-time over the summer.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Starting wage of $22.10 - 22.60 / hour. Additional $1.25/hr (a minimum of 4 continuous hours worked between the hours of  local time)
