Our client is hiring a Procurement Manager in a full-time position based in Chicago, IL.
We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Manager to lead and optimize the indirect procurement function for our client. In this key role, you will manage the sourcing, purchasing, and vendor relationships for indirect goods and services across the organization. This position is ideal for a strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills and a proven ability to drive cost savings, process improvement, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing cost-effective procurement strategies for indirect materials and services.
- Managing and maintaining strong vendor relationships; negotiating contracts, pricing, terms, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Analyzing organizational spending and identifying opportunities to reduce costs and enhance product/service quality.
- Conducting detailed cost and data analysis to evaluate procurement efficiencies and areas of improvement.
- Overseeing maintenance and licensing contract terms, including renewals and approvals.
- Establishing and maintaining accurate vendor pricing.
- Requesting orders with suppliers and generating purchase orders for assets.
- Preparing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) as needed.
- Addressing client concerns promptly to ensure satisfaction; escalating issues to management as appropriate.
- Leveraging technology and systems to document, track, and communicate procurement activities.
- Building strong client relationships to better understand business needs and recommend additional services.
To be successful in this role, you should bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 1 year of purchasing or procurement experience
. - Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical and data-driven mindset with excellent decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
. - Solid understanding of procurement laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Problem-solving orientation and adaptability in dynamic business environments.
- Team management or supervisory experience.
- Experience with AP (Accounts Payable) processes.
- Knowledge of 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance).
- Working knowledge of ILGATA (Illinois Grant Accountability and Transparency Act).
