Overview
This is a high-profile role with the IPG sales force managing all aspects of our trade sales relationship with Ingram and Books-a-Million. The ideal candidate is an experienced National Account Manager with strong communication and organization skills, detail-oriented, data-driven, and a passionate champion for books. The National Account Manager is responsible for managing IPG’s overall relationship with these key accounts and fostering a strong partnership that will drive new growth opportunities.
This position reports to the SVP, Sales & Marketing.
- Execute all frontlist sell-in activities for Ingram and AWBC/BAM, including monthly sales to Ingram and seasonal presentations to AWBC. Ensure that NYP titles are stocked at appropriate levels in advance of pub date.
- Monitor inventory levels and solicit reorders as necessary to ensure title availability
- In conjunction with IPG’s Supply Chain team, liaison with Ingram POD programs to ensure title availability, as necessary
- Troubleshoot issues with Bookshop.org listings
- Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc sales reporting and contribute to budget projections; monitor and escape changes in key metrics; research and identify root cause.
- Communicate with publisher liaisons and directly with publishers, as necessary, on sales issues and opportunities
- Collaborate with the IPG marketing team to drive participation in Ingram and BAM promotional opportunities
- Participate in account business reviews (which may include travel), including developing business analyses and presentation decks
- Work collaboratively with other sales colleagues and across in-house disciplines on ad-hoc initiatives, as required
- Develop and maintain excellent customer relationships, attend customer events or trade conferences as appropriate.
- Build strong relationships internally and externally at all leadership levels, foster team environment and bring positive energy to the team.
- Lead or participate in other projects and tasks as assigned.
- Education:
4-year college degree (BA or BS) or equivalent work experience - 4-5 years of sales experience;
Ingram specific experience is a plus, including familiarity with Ingram IQ and Ingram iPage - Travel to accounts as necessary for title presentations, meetings, or conferences
- Strong interest in book publishing, content strategy, and the broader online marketplace
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with high attention to detail
- Proven ability to interpret data, tell a story, and provide actionable insights
- Strong end-to-end supply chain understanding; print on demand familiarity is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced training in Excel. Must be able to use advanced formulas, conditional formatting, pivot tables, pivot reporting, v-lookups, filters, etc.
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, organization, and attention to detail
- Hybrid role (Chicago area residence preferred), but remote will be considered for qualified candidates.
