Overview
Specialist:
Business Development and Marketing at Mayer Brown. The role supports the Business Development and Marketing department in the Chicago office, collaborating with the Practice Marketing and Business Development team to develop and execute initiatives and business plan objectives, and to ensure client service excellence.
- Supports responses to RFPs, pitches, presentations, and other opportunities by developing written proposal and presentation materials for assigned practice areas, liaising with client teams and industry groups when relevant
- Supports direct marketing and business development programs for assigned practices, including planning and executing podcasts and video recordings, seminars, sponsor ships, and other events; creates social media campaigns and reports on ROI and engagement
- Develops and maintains practice group marketing content (descriptions, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, website/blog content, social media posts, biographies)
- Maintains league table/industry survey content for assigned practices and responds to survey requests or ranking submissions
- Conducts research, competitive intelligence, and analysis for strategic planning, firm positioning, and business development; identifies speaking opportunities
- Collects matter data for transactions practice globally and manages the matter database to ensure data quality and availability
- Tracks transactions practice pipeline activity in the US
- Reviews and updates lawyers’ profiles and practice descriptions to keep them current
- Provides ad hoc support for the transactions practice as required
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet firm goals and objectives
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Research, Communications or related field (required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn firm databases and outside vendor databases (required)
- Minimum of four years of demonstrated success in a marketing, research, management, and/or communications-related field, in professional services or related sectors (required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (required)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with all levels
- Team-oriented, able to support diverse and demanding needs
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with shifting priorities
- Self-starter with initiative; strong customer service and discretion
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects
- Maintains confidentiality and exercises sound strategic thinking and problem-solving
The typical pay scale for this position in Chicago is between $81,000 and $107,000, with actual pay depending on education, experience, skills, and internal alignment.
