Senior Market and Competitive Intelligence Analyst

Join Black & Veatch as a Senior Market and Competitive Intelligence Analyst. This full‑time, staff role focuses on consolidating multiple sources of information and insights into succinct findings. The analyst will produce written reports, presentations, and in‑person briefings for senior leadership and diverse internal clients to support effective decision‑making, new‑business growth, strategy development, and client relationships.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced analyst to join our Market Insights unit within the Enterprise Strategy department. The role involves scoping requests, prioritizing tasks, reviewing and augmenting large datasets, performing data‑driven market analysis and forecasting, investigating relevant policies and regulations, and providing actionable recommendations on emerging global trends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize, analyze, and execute market intelligence and research projects across a wide range of market segments, clients, solutions, and technologies.
  • Manage multiple research assignments while meeting diverse deadlines and supporting time‑sensitive business partner needs.
  • Apply advanced analytical skills to mine, interpret, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data into intelligence and insights, including data visualizations, dashboards, reports, and presentations.
  • Utilize GenAI tools and skills to enhance the research process and improve efficiency.
  • Create and write compelling trend topics for market briefs that tell a clear story with actionable connections to business decisions.
  • Communicate and network with internal business partners to understand needs, manage relationships, and stay informed about external clients.
  • Maintain expertise across external information and database services, platforms, and industry relationships.
  • Support strategic growth assessments by delivering market plans with objective forecast projections.
  • Track competitive landscape and market differentiation using research resources and conduct knowledge sharing with relevant internal teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of the engineering and construction industry and related markets such as natural gas, LNG, renewables, transmission, hydrogen, and related sectors.
  • Advanced proficiency in artificial intelligence and Generative AI programs and software.
  • Expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, and other data and presentation tools, including pivot tables, charting, and visualizations.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with an ability to distill large data sets into strategic insights.
  • Experience in financial analysis, developing market forecasts and projections.
  • Project organization and coordination skills, with keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize simultaneous projects.
  • Excellent writing, clear concise communication, and ability to convert insights into compelling narratives.
  • Effective oral communication skills with experience leading executive‑level meetings and delivering presentations.
  • A self‑starter, entrepreneurial, results‑oriented problem solver with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Creativity, adaptability, and curiosity for continuous learning and improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience, preferably in a market or competitive intelligence group or with engineering and construction companies.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle record search) as required by law.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
  • Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment, based on manager discretion, performance, and job assignments.
