Regional Sales Manager – Industrial Packaging & Containers

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Regional Sales Manager to lead a team of outside sales professionals in the industrial packaging and rigid container industry
. This role focuses on selling a wide variety of industrial packaging products, rigid containers, steel drums, plastic drums, fiber drums, pails, bottles, cans, closures, caps, and lids to companies in the chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, paint, coatings, and petroleum sectors
.

As a leader in industrial packaging distribution
, you will oversee a sales team responsible for providing customers with bulk containers, shipping containers, hazardous material packaging, UN-rated packaging, food-grade packaging, industrial totes, and custom container solutions
. The Regional Sales Manager will drive both new business development and growth with existing customers by leveraging deep industry knowledge and a solutions-oriented sales approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing outside sales team focused on rigid packaging, industrial containers, and bulk packaging solutions
    .
  • Drive sales growth with existing customers while expanding into new accounts across chemical packaging, food packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, paint containers, and petroleum containers
    .
  • Identify and distribute new business leads for team members in target markets such as plastic containers, steel packaging, fiber packaging, bottles, jars, cans, closures, and other rigid packaging products
    .
  • Partner with packaging suppliers and manufacturers to expand product and market knowledge, including sustainable packaging, recyclable containers, and specialty closures
    .
  • Support the team in driving higher margins through value-based selling and packaging solution differentiation
    .
  • Analyze customer needs and provide tailored packaging solutions, whether for hazardous materials, FDA-approved food packaging, or high-performance industrial containers
    .
  • Strengthen customer and prospect relationships in both face-to-face and remote sales environments.
  • Monitor sales team performance, forecast results, and report regularly to senior leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience managing a sales team, ideally within industrial packaging, rigid containers, or related B2B distribution sectors
    .
  • Strong knowledge of packaging products, industrial containers, drums, pails, bottles, cans, and closures highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop sales professionals in achieving growth targets.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a track record of sales success.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams); experience with CRM platforms a plus.
  • Willingness to travel regionally to support customers and the sales team.
