Sales Manager | Murgado Automotive Group (Chicago)

Murgado Automotive Group is building something different. We're not looking for someone to run a traditional sales floor. We're looking for a Sales Manager who understands that the old playbook is dead. Hide the price, set the appointment, hope they show? That doesn't work anymore.

Position Overview

As Sales Manager, you'll join a leadership structure built around three distinct domains: the Desk (deal structure and approvals), the Floor (showroom operations and team development), and the Screen (digital channels and remote deal‑building).

We're looking for someone with the range to operate across these domains and the depth to own one. The right candidate may grow into a Desk Manager, Floor Manager, or Digital Sales Manager depending on strengths and store needs.

This is not a "sit in the tower and wait for ups" role. You will actively shape deals, develop salespeople, and enforce a culture where commitments made to customers are commitments kept.

Key Responsibilities

Deal Structure & Desk Work

  • Structure deals with speed and precision using Tekion.
  • Manage sales process, activity, employee priorities, credit approvals, gross generation, and lead by example.
  • Work as one team. Recognize strengths and put them to work on accomplishing the mission.

Floor Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and coach a sales team that operates in two modes:
  • Delivery &

    Experience:

    Executing a white‑glove handoff for customers arriving on committed deals.
  • Business Development:
    Proactively generating opportunities through equity mining, service lane engagement, and customer outreach.
  • Conduct performance reviews, pipeline meetings, and skill‑building sessions.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard salespeople who fit the model.

Digital Engagement

  • Respond to online leads and inbound inquiries with real answers, not appointment‑setting scripts.
  • Build deals remotely using digital retailing tools.
  • Monitor call transcripts and alerts to capture buying intent in real time.
  • View the Digital world in the same manner you view your showroom.

Customer Experience

  • Ensure every interaction (digital or in‑person) reflects our commitment to transparency.
  • Handle escalations with a problem‑solving mindset.
  • Protect CSI by ensuring the delivery experience matches or exceeds the sales experience.

Operational Execution

  • Oversee daily operations, inventory presentation, and compliance with company processes.
  • Collaborate with F&I to ensure smooth deal flow and maximize PVR without compromising trust.
  • Coordinate with marketing on campaigns, events, and inventory merchandising.

Metrics & Accountability

  • Track and report on sales performance, conversion rates, and pipeline health.
  • Utilize Tekion (DMS), VIN Solutions CRM, and equity mining tools to drive decisions.
  • Hold yourself and your team accountable to measurable activity standards.
Qualifications

Experience

  • Proven track record as a Sales Manager, Desk Manager, or GSM in automotive retail.
  • Demonstrated ability to hold gross, structure deals, and lead a team.
  • Experience with modern DMS platforms (Tekion preferred) and CRM systems.

Skills

  • Strong deal‑structuring instincts and negotiation ability.
  • Leadership that balances accountability with development.
  • Tech‑literate. Comfortable with digital retailing, AI tools, and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Excellent communication skills with customers, salespeople, and peers.

Mindset

  • Believes in transparency over gamesmanship. Earn the business. Deliver such an experience the customer only wishes to work with you.
  • Values velocity: speed to answer, speed to commitment, speed to delivery.
  • Understands that authority comes with accountability.

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
