Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is the third‑largest school district in the United States, serving over 340,000 students in 600+ schools and employing nearly 36,000 people, most of them teachers. CPS has set ambitious goals to ensure that every student, in every school and every neighborhood, has access to a world‑class learning experience that prepares each for success in college, career, and civic life.
In order to fulfill this mission, we make three commitments to our students, their families, and all Chicagoans: academic progress, financial stability, and integrity. Six core values are embedded within these commitments – student‑centered, whole child, equity, academic excellence, community partnership, and continuous learning.
The Office of Access and Enrollment (OAE) manages the application, testing, selection, notification, and enrollment processes for all district elementary and high schools, charter high schools, and designated preschools. OAE is dedicated to increasing student achievement by ensuring that all students have equal access to high‑quality programs that fit their educational needs.
Within the Office of Access and Enrollment, the Data Analyst is a part of a data team that is responsible for collecting, managing, and ensuring the fidelity of a wide variety of data necessary for the selection process for more than 40,000 students annually. The Data Analyst, in conjunction with the rest of the data team, oversees the selection process and the algorithm that underpins the process to place students in pre‑k through high school seats across the district.
