About the PositionThis Trade Lane Development Manager role is commercially focused and responsible for driving growth across Germany–U.S. air and ocean freight lanes. The position blends trade lane ownership, pricing strategy, and commercial support, acting as a subject‑matter expert and internal advocate for Germany‑related logistics solutions.
You’ll work closely with sales, pricing, and operations teams to strengthen market positioning, support strategic customer opportunities, and deepen relationships with carriers and overseas partners. The role is ideal for a commercially minded forwarding professional who understands trade lane dynamics and enjoys influencing revenue beyond a traditional sales‑only remit.
The position may be based out of one of the company’s U.S. offices, depending on candidate location.
Key Responsibilities- Own and develop the Germany–U.S. air and ocean trade lanes from a commercial and strategic perspective
- Support sales teams with trade lane expertise, pricing input, and customer‑facing solutions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with German agents, partners, and carrier contacts
- Analyze market trends, rate fluctuations, and competitive positioning across the trade lane
- Collaborate with pricing and procurement teams to structure competitive, margin‑conscious solutions
- Participate in customer meetings, RFQs, and strategic trade lane initiatives
- Serve as the internal point of reference for Germany‑related logistics opportunities
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
- Proven experience within international freight forwarding (air and/or ocean)
- Strong understanding of Germany–U.S. trade lane dynamics
- Commercial mindset with experience supporting sales, pricing, or trade development initiatives
- Confident communicator, comfortable working cross‑functionally and client‑facing
- Ability to work from one of the company’s U.S. office locations
- High‑visibility role with direct influence on trade lane growth and performance
