Job Purpose
As the Group Lead for Paper Packaging Procurement, you will play a crucial role in leading and developing the North American Zone Paper Packaging Procurement team, overseeing a spend of over $600MM and a team of three professionals.
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will drive procurement excellence across folding cartons, corrugated and label packaging categories, ensuring cost minimization while maintaining quality for our food and beverage products. Key responsibilities include leading cross‑functional collaboration, strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, risk mitigation, and financial stewardship.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities- Lead, manage, and develop a team of three people, fostering a positive, inclusive, and productive culture.
- Align with Global Procurement on strategy and initiatives.
- Collaborate with category managers to implement strategic sourcing plans for resin packaging materials.
- Build and maintain relationships with existing and new suppliers, negotiating contracts and managing performance.
- Identify and implement cost‑saving initiatives, such as supplier consolidation, process improvements, and innovative packaging solutions.
- Mitigate risks associated with resin packaging procurement, including supply chain disruptions and quality issues.
- Work closely with R&D, Operations, and Quality Assurance teams to meet product requirements and regulatory standards.
- Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and spend data to inform strategic decisions.
- Manage budgeting and financial alignment with business objectives.
- Champion Kraft Heinz’s organizational values and procurement vision.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, finance, business, marketing or equivalent. MBA and advanced Procurement qualifications are preferred.
- 8+ years of Procurement experience with 5‑7 years of direct procurement experience.
- Strong business acumen, supplier relationship management, influencing skills, and excellent verbal and written communication.
- Results‑oriented, adept at solving complex challenges and managing ambiguity.
- Creates and manages individual development plans and provides regular feedback, coaching, and mentoring.
- Proven project management, analytical, consultative, and diagnostic skills; experience with business case development and multi‑workstream projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and understanding of source‑to‑pay tools (SAP, Ariba, Workday, etc.).
- Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Certification in procurement, such as CPM or CPSM.
- Experience in the food industry or consumer packaged goods.
- Knowledge of sustainability and social responsibility initiatives in procurement.
