The Marketing Insights Analyst supports GATX Rail North America through various activities, including developing and implementing market research strategies to grow markets and manage risk. The Analyst also produces relevant data-driven projects through analysis and research of industry trends, commodity markets, macro-economic factors, railcar fleet mix, and GATX customer and competitor data.

• Proactively track, analyze and report on trends for key commodities that most impact GATX’s fleet utilization.
• Support Fleet Portfolio Management team with commodity analysis to inform fleet strategy.
• Leverage external consultants, research firms and data sources, managing project scope and deliverables for engagements.
• Attend relevant seminars and conferences to augment internal analysis and share with relevant stakeholders.
• Perform research and analysis on North American rail industry and potential impacts to GATX business, including identification of growth opportunities.
• Support the Sales department and other teams with market, market share, customer, and industry analyses, including customer segmentation, commodities, rail industry trends, competitors, market analyses and other relevant topics.
• Answer ad hoc requests from across all of GATX, including international analyses.
• Develop quarterly management updates, Board presentations and other reporting through analyses and presentation materials on industry and economic indicators.
• Prepare presentations and/or analyses in support of customer meetings, earnings calls, industry events and any other relevant activities.

• Bachelor’s Degree required in Finance, Analytics, Economics or similar field preferred
• Master’s degree a plus
• 2-4 year’s work experience in analyzing and researching markets/commodities, strategy, business development opportunities or an equivalent analytical role

Other Requirements: Some travel required to attend conferences and/or events

This is a hybrid position that will require the employee to work in the office at least 3 days a week throughout the year.

This posting will remain open until the role is filled. As of the post date, the salary range for this position is:

Min USD $68,600.00/Yr.

Max USD $90,000.00/Yr.

This role may be eligible to participate in the Company’s short-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire.

This range is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and other business needs.
