Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Legal Assistant Supervisor to oversee and manage the daily operations of our legal assistant team. This dual focused role is ideal for a professional who excels at identifying top talent, building strong internal relationships, and ensuring that legal support staff operate efficiently and effectively. The position requires excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to balance strategic planning with hands on management.
This position can be officed in either our Chicago or Milwaukee office, and it is an on‑site role, with the opportunity for hybrid work.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and support the legal assistant team, ensuring high performance and professional development.
- Assign workloads, monitor productivity, and ensure deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for workflow issues, training needs, and performance concerns.
- Implement best practices for document management, communication, and administrative support.
- Conduct regular check‑ins, performance evaluations, and team meetings.
- Collaborate with attorneys and practice groups to ensure secretarial support aligns with case demands.
Operational & Administrative Leadership
- Develop and refine policies, procedures, and workflows to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Maintain accurate staffing records, performance documentation, and recruitment data.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend solutions.
- Support firm‑wide initiatives related to staffing, culture, and professional development.
- Partner with leadership to forecast staffing needs and refine hiring strategies.
- Assist with onboarding processes to ensure smooth integration of new hires.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience in legal operations, management, and law‑firm administration.
- Strong understanding of law‑firm workflows, legal assistant responsibilities, and administrative best practices.
- Proven ability to manage and mentor staff in a professional services environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with standard office/legal software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
What We Offer

- Starting salary $90,000 - $120,000 year (Based on experience and knowledge)
