Responsibilities
Under general supervision, the part-time Departmental Assistant (grant‑funded) performs varied clerical and typing duties in the department to which they are assigned. Requires knowledge of general office routine and procedures. The Departmental Assistant is dedicated to the college learning concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with some specialized training (educational or vocational); a minimum of one (1) year related experience as a clerk‑typist or secretarial experience in a general office environment required.Please be sure to clearly list your related experience and qualifications on your resume and application.
Note:
Software and skills proficiency testing for the specific position will be required upon hire and must be successfully completed within the probationary period if this testing has not been previously completed. Proficiency testing includes basic Word, basic Excel, alpha filing, keyboarding/typing test, etc.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform general office duties for the area.
- Ability to communicate effectively with visitors, community members, staff, and students.
- Customer service‑oriented with good computer skills (including keyboarding, Word, Excel).
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and to write correspondence.
- Effective communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Must possess basic bookkeeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
- Ability to type 40 words per minute.
- Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to learn and use various department‑specific software programs.
- Good organizational skills.
Position Status:
Part Time
Hours
/render General Hours. Monday 9:00 am–4:00 pm, Wednesday 12:30 pm–6:30 pm, Thursday 9:00 am–4:00 pm. Hours may be adjusted.
Salary/Wage: $15.97–$16.40 /hr (Hourly)
