PATIENT ACCOUNTS REPRESENTATIVE - FULL TIME

Performs, on a daily basis, the billing, follow-up and collection efforts necessary to bring patient accounts to a collectible status. Assists admitting personnel with insurance verification and helps patients and families with financial arrangements. Takes an active role in attaining and maintaining AR days of 72 – 75. Generates computer reports as needed. Prepares the daily cash deposit and ensures the daily posting of cash to patient accounts’ files.
Assists Utilization Review in monitoring patient benefits and helps the Business Office Manager select accounts to be placed with outside collection agencies.
• Billing, follow‑up, and collection activities for patient accounts.
• Insurance verification and coordination with admitting staff.
• Financial arrangement discussions with patients and families.
• Maintaining target A/R days 72–75.
• Report generation and daily cash deposits.
• Collaboration with Utilization Review and the Business Office Manager regarding outside collections.
- High School Degree or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- 3–5 years experience in hospital admitting, billing and collections.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with accounting software.
- Organizational, filing and typing skills.
- Ability to work independently with supervision from the Business Office Manager.
General hospital environment. Sedentary work with occasional lifting. Requires bending, reaching, standing, listening, speaking, and use of a computer, printer, and office supplies.
Physical RequirementsSedentary work with occasional lifting. Important physical capabilities include bending, reaching, standing, listening, speaking, pushing, and walking. Must be able to use a computer, printer, typewriter, office supplies and perform repetitive typing/keying.
Job ClassificationNon‑Exempt. The Accounts Payable Clerk/Office Clerk will be required to follow any other instructions and perform any other duties requested by Supervisors.
