Sun Vest’s Accounting & Finance team is responsible for preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP to report on Company performance. As the Staff Accountant based in our Chicago HQ, you will report directly to the Controller and work closely with other team members to assist daily accounting tasks, month‑end close processes, and financial reporting. Your expertise in accounting will be pivotal to Sun Vest’s ongoing success, contributing to our sustainable growth strategy and the development of strategic plans for managing and improving renewable energy generation.

• Assist with the monthly close process, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
• Perform day-to-day accounting tasks, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable records, monitor A/P aging and payment schedules to ensure timely payments, avoid late fees, and maintain strong vendor relationships; communicate with Operations and vendors to resolve billing/payment issues and discrepancies with vendor statements.
• Collaborate with team members on audit and tax preparation.
• Ensure accurate and timely posting of transactions in compliance with GAAP.
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation to meet audit and regulatory standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Renewable energy industry experience a plus.
• Construction or manufacturing industry (job cost & POC) experience preferred.
• CPA and public accounting experience preferred.
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Exposure to Net Suite ERP a plus including posting journal entries, entering transactions and running reports.

The salary range for this role reflects the broad array of factors considered in making compensation decisions. These factors include, but are not limited to, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.

A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $70k‑90k. At Sun Vest, it is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, as compensation decisions are tailored to the specifics of each case.
