Position OverviewBig Time Software is seeking a highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance Team at our Chicago headquarters. Reporting to the Controller, this role offers broad exposure across core accounting functions while playing a key role in supporting the company’s financial operations.
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a smooth execution of month-end close and reconciliation activities, billing accuracy, and payment processing efficiency. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys both analytical work and cross-functional collaboration in a growing SaaS organization.
What You’ll DoAs a Staff Accountant at Big Time, you will play a key role in supporting the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Reconcile key working capital accounts (including accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities) to ensure accuracy and completeness across systems
- Drive components of the month-end close process and prepare supporting documentation for external audits
- Set up new customers and ensure accurate invoicing within our billing systems
- Research and resolve customer billing discrepancies and issues
- Process and apply customer payments, refunds, and cash receipts
- Partner directly with customers to resolve past-due balances
- Maintain and update vendor master files to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Receive, review, code, and process vendor invoices
- Prepare accounts payable disbursements for approval and confirm timely payment processing
- Assist with communications with state, city, and other governing bodies under team oversight
- Support preparation of financial reports and analyses under the guidance of senior team members

Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree required, Accounting or Finance concentration preferred
- 1-3 years of work experience in either public accounting or industry, mix of both is preferred
- Knowledge of MS Office and Excel
- CPA or progression towards is a plus
- SaaS billing software experience is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal to interface with customers, outside vendors and our internal team members
- Great time-management skills
