A fast-growing, PE-backed organization in the professional services industry is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its Chicago-based finance team! The Staff Accountant will play an important role in supporting the accounting team through month-end close processes, financial reporting, and collaboration with operational leaders across multiple practice locations. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional who is curious, detail-oriented, and eager to develop technical accounting skills while contributing to a growing organization.
Work Arrangements:- Location: Chicago, IL (Loop area)
- Work Arrangement: Fully on-site
- Compensation range: $60,000-$75,000
- Support the month-end, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Perform and manage balance sheet reconciliations and other recurring close-related activities.
- Work closely with practice managers to review sales data, monthly reporting, and operational questions.
- Maintain and review accrual schedules as part of the monthly close process.
- Review corporate credit card transactions and employee expense reimbursements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to create reports, improve processes, and enhance financial reporting.
- Assist with annual financial audits, regulatory examinations, and ad hoc financial reviews.
- Support the back-office integration of newly acquired locations.
- Participate in projects and process improvements as the organization continues to scale.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 0-3 years of accounting experience (internships or entry-level experience welcomed).
- Basic understanding of general accounting principles and GAAP.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with accounting systems such as Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and locations.
