The Property Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of properties while leading a small accounting team. This role partners closely with operations and leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of real estate assets.
- Manage the monthly and quarterly close process
, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. - Supervise and mentor 1–2 accounting professionals
, reviewing work and supporting their development. - Monitor financial performance and provide reporting and analysis to support leadership decision‑making.
- Maintain and improve internal accounting controls and processes.
- Review cash activity and assist with forecasting and financial planning.
- Track capital expenditures, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules.
- Partner with operational teams to improve reporting efficiency and financial processes.
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Assist with external audits and provide documentation and financial analysis as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4+ years of accounting experience
, ideally with exposure to property or real estate accounting. - Prior experience, at least 2 years of direct supervisory experience strongly desired
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems.
