AboutThe Role
We are seeking a high capable and hands‑on Financial Controller to oversee the accounting activities for Van Hessen entities across North America, Canada, Mexico, and future subsidiaries. You will ensure the integrity of financial reporting and will manage the core accounting operations in line with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
In addition, you will lead a skilled team, improve systems and processes, and work in collaboration across the global organisation.
Responsibilities- Prepare annual group reporting packages for consolidation
- Prepare all tax related supporting schedules for federal, state, and local taxes
- Coordinate and perform the full month‑end closing process
- Oversee the daily accounting operations, including general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll
- Manage and maintain the general ledger and fixed assets system
- Lead the monthly account reconciliations process
- Manage daily cash balances, including petty cash fund and provide weekly cash flow analysis
- Coordinate the annual external audit process to ensure requirements are met
- Resolving system related issues in collaboration with internal departments, global teams and the parent organisation
- Develop, update and maintain department policies and procedures, including desk‑top work instructions
- Maintain a strong knowledge of current Van Hessen accounting procedures
- Must be able to prioritise multiple projects and tasks in a fast‑paced environment where priorities shift
- Lead and support the accounting team with a collaborate approach
- Deliver additional projects and duties as required
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- CPA qualified is desirable but not essential
- Extensive experience in financial reporting, general accounting, A/P, A/R and payroll
- Manufacturing accounting background is essential
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel and JDE is essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proven leadership skills with ability to manage, support and motivate a team
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate at all levels
- Commercial acumen with the ability to think strategically while maintaining a ‘hands‑on' approach
- Highly motivated and efficient with a proactive approach towards completing deadlines
