The Project Accountant is primarily responsible for project billings, project closings, and revenue recognition.
Key responsibilities include:
* Work closely with the project managers throughout the life of the project ensuring financially and administratively accuracy reflected in monthly invoicing based on contract requirements
* Gain an understanding of contract terms to correctly set up and maintain projects in Deltek financial/project system
* Set up billings, create billings and closeout projects in software application
* Coordinate consultant invoices and payments in accordance with agreements
* Maintain contract files within guidelines and perform contract file audits
* Ensure project costs are recorded properly; prepare project labor and expense adjustments when needed
* Review and processing of project budgets, vendor proposals, change orders, and invoices within financial system
* Main point of contact for Project Managers and/or Clients for financial support for projects.
* Respond to inquiries from clients, consultants, and team members in a professional, efficient, and timely manner
* Attend program and project calls to support assigned projects
* Monitor and manage Account Receivables partnering with project managers on follow-up or collocations if needed.
* Assist at month end and year end with reports and reconciliations (could include income statement account reconciliation and budget preparation)
* Maintain a positive attitude and good working relationship with all customers, internal and external.
* Other duties as assigned, included but not limited to:
* Review, audit, and post other teammates' work
* Back up, code, apply to PO and approve invoices
* Collaborate with team to implement process improvements
* Assist in the collection and posting of timesheets
* Assist with accounting system conversion for acquired companies.
* Provide support for any bank audits, external audits, and customer audits.
* Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed

* Understanding of project financials, revenue, and profit
* Excellent leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft applications
* Ability to work both independently and in a highly collaborative manner
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects, completing complex administrative tasks with minimal supervision
* Consistently meet deadlines
* Ability to adapt to different personalities and management styles
* Attention to detail, accuracy, and persistence
* Must assume responsibility for accuracy and timeliness of work product
* Excellent communication skills
* Prepared to learn and challenge conclusions or requests
* Exceptional planning and organizational skills
* Energetic, high level of initiative
* Construction industry experience preferred
Education and experience
* Bachelor's degree in Business with emphasis in accounting or finance preferred
* Minimum of 1 years project cost accounting & general ledger experience
