Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. This contract position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to essential accounting functions while collaborating with various departments. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Manage billing processes and collaborate closely with the sales department to ensure accurate invoicing.

- Follow up on accounts receivable and oversee collection efforts to maintain cash flow.

- Apply cash receipts and ensure timely recording of payments.

- Perform bank reconciliations to verify account balances and transactions.

- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.

- Utilize Quick Books software to manage accounting tasks and maintain organized financial data.

- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

- Assist in month-end close activities to finalize financial statements.

- Contribute to software implementation projects when necessary to improve accounting processes. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

- Proven experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting functions.

- Proficiency in Quick Books and other accounting software.

- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and take initiative.

- Familiarity with journal entries and general ledger maintenance.

- Experience with B2B collections and bank reconciliations.

- Previous involvement in software implementation projects is a plus.
