Salary: $85,000 – $100,000 + 10% bonus
A growing real estate investment organization is hiring multiple Property Accountant professionals in Chicago to support portfolio growth, internal promotions, and recent acquisitions. This Property Accountant role sits within a centralized regional accounting model and offers strong leadership, long-term stability, and clear advancement opportunities. • Partner with Controllers, Property Managers, and internal teams to ensure accurate reporting as a Property Accountant
• Prepare and review journal entries, general ledger activity, and account reconciliations in the Property Accountant role
• Perform month-end close procedures, including complex reconciliations and variance analysis
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and supporting schedules
• Review AR aging, assess collectability, and support reserve or write-off recommendations
• Process recurring and one-off billings while accurately recording cash receipts
• Prepare funding requests, lender draws, and investor reporting
• Support treasury activities including wire payments for distributions and debt service
• Maintain fixed assets, record depreciation, and track capital activity
• Assist with audits, tax work papers, and compliance requirements
• Research accounting guidance and draft memos for non-routine transactions
• Serve as a resource to junior staff and support consistency across the Property Accountant team
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 4+ years of professional accounting experience, ideally within commercial real estate
• CPA is a plus but not required for the Property Accountant role
• Strong GAAP knowledge with the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently
