Senior Accountant | Chicago, IL

$85,000–$100,000

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:

• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of accounting and financial reporting for assigned properties or projects

• Prepare journal entries, perform general ledger analysis, and manage account reconciliations

• Execute month-end close activities for more complex accounting areas

• Prepare funding requests to investors and lenders

• Support treasury activities including wire payments, distributions, and debt service

• Review A/R aging, assess collectability, and recommend reserves or write-offs

• Maintain fixed assets, including depreciation and amortization

• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and supporting schedules

• Assist with budgets, forecasts, and reconciliations between models and actuals

• Support audits, tax work papers, and internal control compliance

• Serve as a resource to junior accountants and assist with training initiatives

• Contribute to ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives

Ideal Background for a Senior Accountant:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• CPA is a plus, but not required

• 3+ years of public accounting or 4+ years of professional accounting experience

• Experience with in a designated product type (industrial, mixed-use, or development) required

• Commercial real estate or property accounting experience strongly preferred

• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills

• Comfortable working in a deadline-driven, multi-project environment

• ERP experience a plus (Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar)
