Tax Preparer

Description We are looking for an experienced Tax Preparer to join our team on a contract basis in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will focus on preparing individual and business tax returns with accuracy and efficiency. This position provides an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in tax preparation and software tools to deliver high-quality results.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare individual and corporate tax returns in compliance with federal and state regulations.

- Review client financial records to ensure accurate and complete tax reporting.

- Utilize Lacerte Tax Software to streamline tax preparation processes.

- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary documentation and answer tax-related inquiries.

- Analyze tax data and identify potential deductions or credits to maximize returns.

- Ensure all deadlines are met and filings are submitted on time.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations to provide informed recommendations.

- Assist in resolving tax discrepancies and provide solutions for complex tax issues.

- Uphold confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive financial information.

- Provide support during audits or reviews as needed. Requirements - Proven experience in tax preparation, including individual and business tax returns.

- Proficiency in using Lacerte Tax Software or similar tax preparation tools.

- Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations.

- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and team members.

- Analytical skills to identify tax-saving opportunities and resolve discrepancies.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

- Relevant certifications such as CPA or EA are a plus.
