Mission: The Hope Center Foundation of Chicago’s mission is to address the economic and social needs of Urban Chicago through imaginative, solution-focused programs that equip and inspire residents to transition out of poverty to living wage and into generational wealth. We work on the Far South Side in the communities of Roseland, Pullman and West Pullman.

Position: Bookkeeper

Job Description:

  • Perform payroll functions in an accurate and timely manner, and submit payroll taxes
  • Post all bank transactions on general ledger
  • Maintain and balance the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner
  • Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function including reviewing, coding, ensuring proper approvals obtained, and processing payments
  • Perform account receivable functions including invoicing, applying deposits to respective invoices, and collections.
  • Gathering and uploading all supporting documents for invoices (vouchers) submitted to funders
  • Experience working with a non-profit in a financial role

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1-5 years’ relevant experience working in accounting and bookkeeping
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient skills in Quick Books and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
