We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist to join our team. In this role, you'll be the backbone of our financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting functions.
What You'll Do:
- Manage sales tax returns, accounts payable, payroll processing, and benefits administration with precision.
- Maintain and reconcile subsidiary accounts and the general ledger, preparing trial balances and ensuring accuracy in all entries.
- Perform bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
- Oversee accounts payable using , ensuring vendors are paid promptly and accurately.
- Develop and maintain the chart of accounts and systems for tracking financial transactions.
- Keep meticulous historical records by organizing and filing all supporting documents.
- Prepare clear, comprehensive financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account data and trends.
- Collaborate with the finance team to meet deadlines and contribute to special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- College level coursework in accounting.
- Proficiency in Quick Books Enterprise and management.
- Strong understanding of cashflow management and cash management standards.
- Ability to analyze point-of-sale (POS) data and extract actionable insights.
- Excellent data entry and accounting reporting skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, and thoroughness in all work.
- Commitment to accuracy and dedication to excellence in financial processes.
Candidates must be located in the Chicago area. Will work primarily from home with occasional time in our downtown location.
