Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated, detailed orientated individual to serve as a Laboratory Surveyor in the Health Care Facilities and Programs Division. This individual will travel to conduct on-site surveys of clinical labs to ensure compliance with Illinois and federal rules and regulations. Reviews/inspects facility records, interprets rules and regulations, and provides technical information. Reviews and evaluates licensure applications from clinical laboratories and other facilities which are regulated.

Collaborates in the development of survey schedule. Responds to inquiries through written and verbal communication from Department staff, clinical laboratories, and other State and Federal Agencies.

  • Under general supervision, drives and travels to conduct on-site surveys of independent clinical labs, hospital labs and blood banks to ensure compliance with Illinois and federal rules and regulations and to recommend certification and/or licensure.
