Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, and energetic individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant I. Working under the general direction of the Chief of Parole, this position will represent the Parole Division in statewide (both North and South regions) for reentry services in assisting individuals to reintegrate back in their community. The right candidate will collaborate and liaise with state agencies and community partners where reentry services will occur, serve as a liaison with the Illinois Department of Public Health, and maintain resource equipment for statewide events.

In addition, they will travel to statewide regions to partner with organizations interested in promoting resource fairs, maintain the Parole's webpage, Summit of Hope, and provide quarterly assessments for statewide reentry events. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply.

Essential Functions
  • Under the direction of the Chief of Parole, the Parole Reentry Staff Assistant will represent the Parole Division in statewide (both North and South regions) for reentry services in assisting individuals to reintegrate back in their community.
  • Collaborates and liaises with state agencies and community partners where reentry events will occur.
  • Serves as a liaison with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).
  • Maintains resource equipment for statewide events.
  • Travels to statewide regions to partner with organizations that are interested in promoting the resource fairs on behalf of the Illinois Department of Corrections’ Parole Division and the Illinois Department of Public Health.
  • Maintains the Parole’s webpage, Summit of Hope, on the Illinois Department of Corrections’ website for agencies/organization/volunteers for upcoming resource fairs statewide.
  • Provides quarterly assessments to the Chief of Parole for statewide reentry events.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experiencing organizing community events.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience promoting community-based events.
