ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.

* Performs complex duties in the repair, maintenance, and installation of plumbing systems and backflow prevention devices in state buildings.

* Recommends energy-saving changes.

* Installs, maintains, and repairs fire sprinkler systems and irrigation systems.

* Oversees the operation of steam boiler plants.

* Works with engineers/contractors on new system design, troubleshooting, testing, and startup of new systems.

* Works carefully to follow all current Plumbing Codes/regulations for plumbing work to ensure that all installed systems pass inspections.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference will be given to those with a Journeyman Plumber license plus licensed backflow prevention testing and fire sprinkler system experience

KNOWLEDGE:

* Thorough knowledge of plumbing system maintenance and repairs

* Knowledge of State and Local plumbing codes.

* Knowledge of multiple source heating &hydronic systems and applications.

* Knowledge of acceptable practices, methods, and tools used inthe installation, monitoring, and repair of plumbing equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree

Experience:

0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber

PHYSICAL

WORKING CONDITIONS:

* Ability to lift 50 pounds.

* Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions

* Ability to work in tight, confined spaces

* Ability to work comfortably at a variety of heights

* Ability to walk great distances throughout the facility
