The Cheyenne Wyoming Veterans Health Administration is currently recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner in Gastroenterology to work at the Cheyenne Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Cheyenne - WY.

• Start - continue - or finish your career here | Cheyenne VA Health Care System () The incumbent practices in the Medicine Service Line as a Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission
• The NP provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management
• The NP practices to the full extent of their education - training - and certification
• The NP has prescriptive authority for a panel of patients or program as indicated by their position
• The Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner has a special interest in Gastroenterology and Hepatology care and it is recommended to have experience in Gastroenterology/Hepatology but not required
• The incumbent will learn the fibroscan technique - transplant application process and other skills as pertain to the practice of Gastroenterology/Hepatology
• Major duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
  Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary team members Orders and interprets diagnostic studies Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions Initiates referrals/consultations to specialty services Provides education to patients and their families Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes Independently practices as a NP providing a full range of services utilizing treatment guidelines in the delivery of high-quality care Collaborates with patients - families - and health care practitioners to develop - implement - and evaluate care and health outcomes Utilizes customer service principles - supports veteran self-determination - and serves as a resource for patients and staff in addressing ethical issues Demonstrates critical thinking in assessing and managing complex situations
