A Day in the Life of a RN Test Observer
Under the direction of the Director of Professional Practice and Lead RN test observers, the RN Test Observer is responsible for validating Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) candidates during their skills and/or knowledge examinations. This role ensures that testing is conducted in accordance with established standards and regulatory requirements and that it is carried out in a fair, unbiased manner. The RN Test Observer works closely with Headmaster, LLP—the contracted third‑party testing organization—to maintain compliance and uphold the integrity of the certification process.

- Maintain all criteria required to ensure good standing as a test observer.
- Ensure all pre‑testing correspondence is provided to candidates and manage testing schedules.
- Assist in simulation lab setup and breakdown, ensuring all testing supplies are available and in stock.
- Objectively and impartially observe CNA candidates utilizing criteria set forth by Headmaster during testing.
- Direct and aid the actor in setting up skills, prompting to ensure expeditious testing.
- Ensure a respectful and nondiscriminatory test environment that gives each candidate an equal opportunity to demonstrate competence.
- Ensure all post‑test documentation/forms are uploaded or sent to Headmaster via the Test Master University website.
- Work closely with the Simulation Coordinator and Simulation Tech to assist in scheduling Simulation Lab times for testing and maintain lab cleanliness and organization.
Skills:
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to demonstrate independent work initiative and sound judgment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic human anatomy.
- Proficient in nursing skills related to the scope of the Certified Nurse Aide.
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing.
- Wyoming Registered Nurse License or enhanced Nurse Licensure (eNLC).
- One (1) or more years of experience in long‑term care or care of the chronically ill.
- Master's degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing.
