Mandatory: BLS, ACLS Preferred: NIHSS Common Diagnoses / Patient Types:
Pre/post cardiac procedures: stents, pacemakers, ICDs CABG (≤24 hrs post-op) Cardioversions on the floor Thoracotomy (direct from PACU) Vascular procedures NSTEMI patients Tracheostomy patients (home vented or bipap/cpap) Chest tubes Pulling pacer wires (usually ICU-level skill) Experience / Must-Have
Skills:
Strong experience with pre/post cardiac patients Pre/post stents, pacemakers, ICDs Pre/post CABG and vascular procedures Drips & Monitoring Titration:
Some drips titrated by RN; dobutamine & dopamine usually non-titratable. Common Drips:
Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Nitro, Integrelin Monitoring:
Tele/Monitor Techs on unit RN does not need to read strips independently Travelers don’t need advanced telemetry expertise Staffing & Support Charge Nurse / House Supervisor:
