Sr Automation & Controls Specialist (Finance) Automation & Controls Specialist - Gas Processing & Compression (Wyoming/Utah)

Keep critical gas processing and compression operations running safely and reliably. This field‑based role provides technical leadership for Automation & Control systems, supports capital/O&M planning, and partners with Operations and technicians to troubleshoot and improve performance.

What You Bring (Minimum Qualifications)
  • Associate's degree in a technical field OR 8 years gas processing plant/technical analysis experience (degree substitute).
  • With a degree: 4+ years gas processing plant/technical analysis experience.
  • Knowledge of gas processing/compression automation; PLC ladder logic and Wonder Ware InTouch (plus other automation programming).
  • Experience with industrial communications and media (Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus; copper/fiber/radio; AB proprietary protocols).
  • Valid driver's license (travel required) and intermediate MS Office skills.
Work Environment & Schedule
  • Field office‑based in Wyoming or Utah with up to 20% travel (vehicle and occasional air).
  • Non‑traditional hours/on‑call responsiveness required; company cell phone provided/required.
  • Safety‑focused role supporting PSM requirements and site/company standards.
  • Physical work includes climbing, working around noise/temperature extremes, and lifting up to 38 lbs
    .
  • Post‑offer drug screen and background check required.
What You'll Do
  • Maintain and improve Allen‑Bradley PLC systems.
  • Support Wonder Ware/In Touch and Ignition HMI development, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot control logic/wiring and I/O issues; partner with Operations and technicians.
  • Lead automation capital projects and manage contractor bids, selection, and execution.
  • Troubleshoot automation communications and instrumentation (Ethernet TCP/UDP, Modbus, Profibus, Control Net, DH+; fiber/copper/radio).
What Makes You Stand Out
  • You bring strong, hands‑on experience with PLC/HMI in gas processing and compression environments.
  • You're fluent in industrial networking
    , both protocols and real‑world field media (fiber, copper, radio).
  • You can move seamlessly from drawings to field execution (P&IDs, control/instrumentation drawings, cause/effect).
  • You're comfortable owning automation project scope/schedule/cost and coordinating contractors and vendors.
  • You're a calm, practical troubleshooter who communicates clearly and supports technician development.
