Primary Purpose

We are looking for an early-career Electrical Engineer to join our Tallgrass Project Engineering team. This role offers hands‑on exposure to power plant, pipeline systems, compressor stations, terminals, substations, and motor control centers supporting major projects. Candidates with 0 to 5 years of experience will excel in this position by contributing to a diverse range of projects, from concept to execution.

  • Support the design, specification, and analysis of electrical systems, including substations, MW switch gear, LV motor control centers, load analysis, and instrumentation that supports rotating equipment.
  • Assist in project execution, from feasibility and front‑end engineering to construction support and commissioning.
  • Perform calculations, material selection, and electrical integrity assessments.
  • Work closely with project managers, field personnel, and vendors to ensure technical accuracy and safety compliance.
  • Participate in inspections, failure analysis, and reliability improvements of mechanical systems.
  • Prepare engineering deliverables such as datasheets, reports, and drawing reviews.
  • Follow prescribed procedures and conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations.
  • Will work non‑traditional hours as needed.
  • This role will be up to 80% travel.
Education and

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering from an accredited institution in Engineering or a related field.
  • 0 to 5 years of mechanical engineering experience (internships or co‑ops in oil & gas are a plus).
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment used in pipeline or terminal operations.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and engineering analysis tools (voltage drop, conduit fill, ohms law, and general electrical engineering calculations).
  • Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and a proactive mindset.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments as needed.
Experience / Specific Knowledge (Not Required)
  • Exposure to midstream project work or operations support.
  • Experience with pump or compressor station design.
  • Root cause analysis or mechanical integrity experience.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
Competencies, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic Engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of the NEC/NFPA 70E.
  • This role will travel up to 80%.
  • Works under direct supervision but displays initiative and moves toward requiring less supervision.
  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work.
  • Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets; position will be filled depending on qualifications, experience and skill sets of the successful candidate.
