MH - 139 Operations Technicians (contract) Description
Performs scheduled and unscheduled airframe, engine, avionics, electrical, fuel, hydraulics, flight controls, drive train, and rotor maintenance on UH-1N Helicopters and other associated equipment, stands, AGE, tools, test equipment, vehicles, and shop support items in accordance with Company Standard Operating Procedures and the PWS.
Major Job Activities- Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment conditions and/or operation.
- Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturer's manuals.
- Performs in-flight checks and testing to include rotor track and balancing, and vibration troubleshooting.
- Performs cleaning and corrosion treatment on assigned equipment.
- Performs flight line functions including ground handling, towing, jacking, refueling, marshaling, launch and recovery.
- Documents all inspection and maintenance actions in aircraft forms and IMDS.
- Performs Red X and IPI inspections.
- Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
- Maintains hangar and grounds IAW Company and PWS requirements to include snow and weed removal.
- Operates Ground Support Equipment.
- Participates in FOD walks.
- Knowledge and experience in Page 42 technical, safety, and environmental issues involving UH-1N helicopter maintenance.
- Working knowledge of aircraft, including the following: structural, commnav, instrument, avionics, electrical, engine, gearbox, drive train, rotor systems with the ability to interpret and apply information on schematic diagrams, drawings and charts for fault isolation and repair of systems and subsystems.
- Willing to travel on occasion.
- Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
- CLIMBING - Ascending or descending using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized (onto or off of helicopter)
- HANDLING - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand (required for numerous tasks.)
- EXPOSURE TO WEATHER - Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather (while conducting exterior ramp operations)
- NOISE - Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds or a pitch or level sufficient to cause marked distraction or possible hearing loss (while conducting exterior ramp operations)
- Ability to move about both inside aircraft hangar and outside on aircraft ramp within close proximity of running equipment and aircraft.
- USAF Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS)
- Working knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
- Education / Certifications:
- USAF or equivalent aircraft maintenance formal military training or FAA A&P license required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance.
- Experience:
- USAF or equivalent aircraft maintenance, formal military training and/or FAA A&P license required.
- Three years' aircraft maintenance experience (at least 1 year within the last 5 on MH-139 maintenance preferred).
