Project Engineer II – Mortenson

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer II who can interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment.

The Project Engineer will review, analyze, manage and resolve field coordination issues with project team members and participants.

Location:

Initial Project in Wyoming.

• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craftsmanship personnel.
• Implement the pre‑construction quality plan and manage testing and inspection processes.
• Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses.
• Develop and maintain material tracking lists, test and inspection listings, concrete placement log, and non‑conformance reports.
• Manage and distribute contract documents; establish electronic document handling procedures (RFIs, correspondence).
• Manage submittals: set up registers, obtain customer/architect approval, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review, and processing.
• Expedite submittals to align with project schedule; communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers.
• Incorporate procedures for project closeout; define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as‑built construction documents.
• Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers; determine alternative work methods as needed.
• Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members; maintain schedules and ensure completion.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Minimum of three years related construction experience.
• Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks.
• Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
• Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills.
• Current driver’s license.

The base pay range for this role is $91,100 MIN – $123,000 MAX. Actual range for Denver, CO and Chicago, IL is 5%, Seattle, WA and Portland, OR is 10%, Washington, D.C. is 12.5%. This position is eligible for the Mortenson incentive plan.
