Maintenance Technician Solar Monitoring System Cheyenne, WY

UL Solutions will be installing a solar monitoring system (SMS) near Cheyenne, WY on behalf of one of our clients. The station is approximately 25x25 feet and consists of solar panels, two 7-foot tripods, and scientific measurement equipment enclosed by a locked chain-link fence. The station will monitor solar resources as well as other meteorological and weather-related parameters.

The station requires weekly maintenance on the same day each week during daylight hours to ensure consistent and accurate data collection for a minimum of 1 year and up to 2 years. Your duties will include:

Each maintenance visit should take approximately 45-90 minutes. UL Solutions requires a weekly Excel logbook uploaded via the internet, along with photos and other documentation, which should also take 45-90 minutes. The total weekly commitment, including travel, is estimated at 2-4 hours.

Occasionally, UL Solutions may request assistance in replacing or troubleshooting equipment. A Senior Engineer will contact you to guide you through the process, support you onsite, and review data post-repair.

No prior solar experience is required, but interest in the field is a plus. Training will be provided remotely via phone and video, with potential onsite training when feasible.

You must be able to follow instructions remotely throughout the contract. You need to own or have access to reliable transportation to the remote SMS location, with 4WD vehicle preferred.

You should be able to walk to and from the site, typically no more than ¼ mile each way.

Ownership or access to a gas or battery-operated weed whacker for occasional grass cutting is required; additional compensation will be provided.

You must be able to climb and work comfortably from a 6 or 8-foot ladder (supplied).

You should be comfortable using hand tools such as levels and screwdrivers (supplied) for equipment maintenance.

A smartphone is required for taking site photos and communicating with UL Solutions staff in case of emergencies.
