GeneralJob Description
Perform case management and supervision of ASEP programming at the Academic Success and Enrichment Program. Responsible for daily programming and program implementation for youth enrolled in the program.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Responsible for planning and implementing daily activities for participants in the ASEP. Activities may vary from education assistance such as homework and STEM based learning, music, arts and physical fitness and other enrichment programs.
- Communicates with Office of Youth Alternative staff members, parents, and students.
- Develops positive rapport and mutual understanding of program purpose and goals with all parties involved.
- Assists with special events, transports students, and program planning under the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator and/or Director.
- Performs a variety of administrative duties.
- Leads after-school Homework, Tutoring and prevention programming.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Leadership, organizational and management abilities required to successfully lead a diverse and multi-faceted tutoring program.
- Ability to relate to young people and serve as a positive and motivating influence while providing direction and supervision in a variety of settings.
- Knowledge of educational, athletic and enrichment programming that appeal to the targeted demographic of 1st grade through 12th grade students.
- Ability to follow directions and work independently.
- Ability to work with a variety of people from diverse and varied backgrounds and experiences.
- Ability to adjust to changes in work location and activities.
- Ability to work in an academic setting and provide support to students.
- Participate in Rope Course facilitation and complete certification process.
- Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
- One or more years working in a school or recreational setting as a team leader, case manager, paraprofessional, or teacher or one plus years working in a residential, summer or after-school program.
- Applicant must be able to pass a complete criminal background check which includes fingerprinting and child abuse registry.
Required: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Prefer minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology, or related field.
Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio‑visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain the physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 30 pounds.
