Position: Physician Office Floater, Certified (MA)

Position Overview

Provides direct patient care and supports the physician in delivering high-quality medical services while ensuring a seamless patient experience. This role also assists the front office as needed, ensuring smooth daily operations, patient satisfaction, and practice growth and retention. The position requires a balance of clinical and administrative responsibilities, with an emphasis on professionalism, attention to detail, and patient‑centered care.

Responsibilities
  • Front Office Support (45%) – Assist with scheduling, check‑in/out, answer calls, verify demographics, collect payments, perform administrative duties and support clinical staff.
  • Clinical / Patient Care (45%) – Collect & document demographics, medical history, and other clinical data in EMR; record vital signs; administer injections, splints, and dressings; prepare patients for examination; maintain exam/treatment rooms and inventory; administer vaccinations; assist physician during exams, treatments, and testing; demonstrate medical terminology; perform phlebotomy and other lab duties; ensure medications are current and supplies stocked; safeguard patient confidentiality.
  • Patient Engagement & Retention (10%) – Welcome patients in person and by phone; answer inquiries or refer appropriately.
Core Skills
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and infection control standards.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and strict confidentiality of patient records.
  • Basic understanding of insurance verification and billing processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and adaptability to new software.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, able to prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, or equivalent combination where two years related experience equals one year of schooling.
  • Minimum 1‑2 years of experience in a medical office, ambulatory care setting, or physician practice preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems required;
    Athena or EPIC experience preferred.
  • Minimum 1‑2 years of phlebotomy experience.
  • Prior experience in both clinical support (phlebotomy, injections, vitals) and front office functions (scheduling, insurance verification, collections) strongly preferred.
Certifications
  • Certified/Registered Medical Assistant
  • Phlebotomy Certification
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification Card
