Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) will play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of clients receiving non-medical home care services. This role primarily involves conducting initial assessments, creating care plans, supervising caregivers, and ensuring that the services provided meet the state regulatory standards. The RN will act as a liaison between the company caregivers, clients, and their families, providing oversight and support to promote high‑quality care.
Key Responsibilities- Initial Client Assessment: Conduct in‑home assessments for new clients to evaluate their medical condition, personal care needs, and home environment to develop a customized care plan.
- Care Plan Development: Collaborate with clients and their families to create and periodically update individualized care plans based on their non‑medical needs, ensuring that caregivers are aware of any special considerations.
- Caregiver Supervision: Provide regular supervision of caregivers, including conducting performance evaluations and offering ongoing training to ensure they comply with care plans and company protocols.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular in‑home visits to monitor the quality of care provided by caregivers and adjust care plans as necessary. Ensure that all care plans are compliant with Maryland’s state regulations for non‑medical homecare.
- Client Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for clients, ensuring that their needs are met, that they feel comfortable with their care, and that any issues or concerns are resolved promptly.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, care plans, and follow‑up visits in compliance with state regulations and company policies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Nursing/owner/administrator and other team members to communicate any concerns about client care and to provide recommendations for improving service delivery.
- Education and Support: Educate clients and their families on best practices for home care, safety, and disease prevention. Provide ongoing education and support for caregivers as needed.
- Licensure: Must hold a current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in home healthcare, homecare, or a related field preferred. Experience in a non‑medical homecare setting is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical assessment and decision‑making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create and update care plans effectively
- Knowledge of state regulations for non‑medical homecare
- Competence in training and supervising homecare aides or caregivers
- Other Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for in‑home visits
- Must pass a criminal background check and have up‑to‑date CPR certification
This position requires travel to clients' homes for assessments and supervisory visits. The RN must be able to manage varying levels of patient care needs, coordinate with caregivers, and provide a high level of customer service to both clients and their families.
