At this time, we do not have any current openings for the upcoming school year. However, we are accepting applications to build a candidate pool for potential positions that may become available. Submitted applications will be reviewed by our building principals as opportunities arise.

Starting salary for new teachers 2026-27: $59,000 annually

An additional part of Duneland's application process will be for every new applicant to complete a candidate assessment. This will give Duneland the data to understand each candidate's strengths and likelihood to impact student success, so we can make the best choice for our district's needs. Please allow yourself approximately 1 hour to complete. Must complete at one sitting. The assessment will need to be completed in order for you to submit your application.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Provides instruction and strategies within a variety of settings to address the academic, behavioral and emotional needs of students. Leads an educational program for students in an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishes effective rapport with students to promote positive attitudes of self-worth; motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program, in accordance with each student's ability;

establishes good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Credential - Valid/active Indiana Teaching License with Mild Interventions
  • Experience-
    • Experience working with emotional and behavioral disabilities preferred
    • Experience working with secondary students, as well as endorsements in secondary content preferred
  • Education - Bachelor's degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements
  • Personal Qualities - Highly recommended from student teaching supervisors or other professionals who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment, and classroom performance of the teacher
  • Understanding of state and federal regulations and laws serving individuals with disabilities (i.e. Article VII, IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the ADA, etc.)
  • PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Provide direct and/or indirect services through a variety of methods to assigned students according to the IEP or ISP
  • Participate in the case conference committee meeting as the student's special education teacher
  • Create IEPs including measurable goals, services, accommodations and all relevant areas to address unique student needs
  • Regularly monitor and manage the implementation of students' IEP or Service Plans
    • Ensure confidentiality and accessibility of the plan(s) to appropriate and approved stakeholders
    • Inform appropriate and approved teachers and related services providers of their specific responsibilities related to the plan(s) and serves as a resource to all other personnel providing services to assigned students
    • Direct instructional aides and paraprofessionals and coordinate their work for the purpose of providing an effective school program according to individual student needs
    • Complete Progress Monitoring of IEP goals and provide to parents on a regular basis
  • Serve as a resource for school-based interventions for students
  • Follow the criteria established in the Duneland School Corporation Teacher Evaluation Plan
  • Provide learning experiences in accordance with the Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum designed by Duneland School Corporation
  • Plan, organize and deliver Specially Designed Instruction and interventions to meet diverse needs of students. Maintain awareness of state standards specified in state law, administrative regulations, or set by the Duneland School Corporation
  • Plan, organize, and implement differentiated lessons to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Establish and implement clear objectives for each lesson
  • Engage students in meaningful activities to assure student mastery of content
  • Apply Depth of Knowledge strands in instructional strategies
  • Enter student grades in student information system
  • Communicate with building principal about special education issues and trends
  • Confer with parents and colleagues to address student academic and behavioral needs
  • Establish and implement classroom rules and procedures to provide an environment conducive to learning
  • Administer assessments as required by the state of Indiana and the corporation
  • Interact with colleagues, parents, and students in a manner that is professional and reflect the expectations of leadership within the school and corporation
