Job Summary
Have you worked in an environment where everyone feels safe to act, is confident to learn from errors, and pursues excellence in an environment of psychological safety? We want this for all our people and are looking for someone to join our theatre leadership team to support us on our journey to develop a learning culture, productivity and leadership.
At Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we have a multidisciplinary surgical team of over 150 staff, including surgeons, anaesthetists and healthcare professionals working across 13 operating theatres. We carry out approximately 37,000 planned operations each year, delivering both planned and emergency surgery.
As an OD Practitioner you will focus on optimising the human performance of this team through a better understanding of processes, the behaviour of individuals and their interactions with others and with their environment.
The Operating Department is committed to a major transformation project to embed the Trust's CARE values and leadership principles into our culture, behaviours and the way we work. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role supporting effective change to develop the culture and performance of a team of healthcare professionals.
The post holder will use an Organisational Development approach to support the theatre improvement plans. We want you to be passionate about our people, our patients, their families and the public service we provide.
Main dutiesAs an Organisational Development practitioner, this post joins our Theatre Leadership Team. You will have a key role supporting organisational development and cultural change, influencing and persuading people across the Trust. We will help you build up your professional networks as you join our leadership assembly.
Supporting the Theatre Productivity Improvement Programme Lead, the post holder will be visible in the theatre environment with much of the diagnostic and development work anticipated to take place in the ‘live’ theatre environment.
The role embeds leadership and safety culture development within the day‑to‑day work, enabling teams to recognise positive behaviours in daily working, supporting cultural change and empowering us to put patient safety and clinical excellence at the heart of what we do.
Using a wide range of data and intelligence to monitor the culture, you will be responsible for responding to requests for support, undertaking diagnostic work to identify needs, and developing and facilitating organisational development interventions within the theatre setting. You will coordinate, plan and facilitate training in response to quality concerns, process failures and other learning opportunities.
You will demonstrate inclusive leadership behaviours and be passionate about values, learning, wellbeing, inclusion, building staff engagement and improving the experiences of our workforce.
