Mechanical Fitter

Up to £18.00 per hour – Chesterfield.

Metalis are currently supporting a well established company in Chesterfield who are looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join the team!

This is a hands‑on position suited to someone with a strong mechanical background, ideally with experience in mechanical fitting, fabrication, or general engineering. You'll be working in a supportive, skilled team assembling bespoke machinery using a range of hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.

• Fitting components and structures to engineering drawings and specifications
• Working with Hydraulics and pneumatics
• Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments accurately
• Ensure proper alignment, fit, and finish of all fitted parts
• Support fabrication and build processes as required
• Perform quality checks to ensure assemblies meet required standards
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following all health & safety procedures

• Apprentice-trained or experienced in mechanical fitting
• Confident in reading and interpreting technical drawings
• Skilled in using hand/power tools and various measuring equipment
• Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive attitude

• Competitive hourly rate (up to £18 p/h depending on experience)
• Days Monday to Friday – early Friday finish
• Monday to Thursday 07:30 - 16:00;
  Friday 07:30 - 13:00 / 37.5 hours per week.
