We are recruiting an experienced
Accounts Supervisor (Ledger Supervisor)for an acquisitive, forward-thinkingbusiness based in Chesterfield.

The Role

As our Accounts Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the finance department, overseeing a team of two apprentices and three accounts assistants, providing leadership, guidance, and hands-on support as needed.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys developing others, improving processes, and working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accounts assistants and apprentices.
  • Oversee daily transactional finance activities including purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control, and bank reconciliation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.
  • Review and approve reconciliations, journals, and month-end tasks.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Provide training, support, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and company financial procedures.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.
About You
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring staff within a finance environment is required.
  • A strong understanding of transactional accounting processes is required.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • You will be confident using accounting software and Excel.
