Children's Community Continence Nurse NHS AfC:Band 5 Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the North Derbyshire Children’s Community Continence Service 30hours a week. We are a small friendly team which is the lead provider for the Countywide Continence Service who supports children and young people aged 4-19 years in the community to achieve their continence potential.
We are looking for a Children’s Community Continence Nurse to support and make a difference to children and young people’s incontinence needs. The successful candidate will have a passion for continence and enjoy working in the community with children and young people and their families. An important element of the role is to independently undertake continence clinics across the whole of North Derbyshire.
Applicants need to possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and work independently and as part of a team.
Full training and supervision from Specialist Nurses will be provided although a background in continence would be advantageous.

Main duties of the jobThe main emphasis of this role is to provide specialist clinical practice within a defined clinical area/caseload. This will involve working independently with support/guidance from a multi-disciplinary (MDT) as required.
Duties will include, for example, provision of specialist knowledge and key experience in the care and management of children and young people with continence care needs, and working collaboratively with all agencies to promote health, education and well-being of children with continence care needs.

Person specification Qualifications and Training- NMC registered Nurse
- Willingness to participate in any identified training to develop skills included extended role activities
- Teaching and Assessing qualification
- Registered Children's Trained Nurse
- Post registration course in the management of bowel and bladder dysfunction in paediatrics or equivale
- Experience of working within a Multi-disciplinary team
- Experience of managing clinical caseload
- Evidence of experience in working with Children and Families
- Community post registration experience
- Minimum 1 years post registration experience
- Experience of working with Children and young people's with continence needs
- Ability to relate to, communicate with and engage with children and young people
