Laing O'Rourke is recruiting a Senior Civil Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of major power sector projects across the UK, including the Great Grid Upgrade.

EDEU project – Chesterfield to High Marnham – construction of two new substations.

• Lead and manage civil engineering activities on power sector construction projects.
• Provide technical expertise across earthworks, concrete structures, foundations, drainage, and associated infrastructure.
• Oversee setting out, temporary works coordination, and construction methodologies.
• Ensure works are delivered in line with design, specifications, programme and budget.
• Manage and mentor engineers and site teams, promoting best practice and continuous improvement.
• Liaise closely with design teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Drive high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental performance.
• Support planning, risk management and technical assurance processes.

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering civil engineering works within the power, energy or major infrastructure sectors.
• Strong technical knowledge of heavy civils and complex construction environments.
• Experience working for a main contractor on large, multi-disciplinary projects.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach with a strong commercial awareness.
• Chartered or working towards chartership (ICE or equivalent) is desirable.
