Are you ready to join a team of talented structural engineers to help shape and lead the future of water infrastructure? Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Principal Structural Engineer. You can be based in one of our UK or Ireland offices while also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model. Our thriving UK & Ireland multidisciplinary Water Solutions business is looking for talented Principal Structural Engineers to join our growing team.

We are delivering an exciting portfolio of high‑value capital programmes and projects through long‑term frameworks with major clients in the water sector. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career as a technical leader, delivering solutions on a diverse range of projects that meet the technical challenges of today and tomorrow.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy technical excellence in the design of a wide range of heavy civil engineering structures, from deep below‑ground pumping stations to large above‑ground water‑retaining concrete structures, and complex piled foundations to steel‑framed buildings.
  • Develop structural solutions to interesting and often complex challenges, leading and overseeing detailed design activities by others and preparing detailed designs yourself.
  • Challenge the norm by identifying and implementing innovative ideas, best practice and new ways of thinking and working to help deliver value for our clients.
  • Lead the structural design of projects and mentor and support the professional development of team members, fostering positive client relationships.
  • Serve as the interface with other project design disciplines and harness excellent communication skills when dealing with clients and other project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review high‑quality drawings, calculations, specifications and reports to communicate solutions.
  • Review and sign‑off project deliverables with a focus on compliance and efficiency, ensuring quality at all stages.
Qualifications
  • A degree or equivalent qualification and experience in civil and structural engineering.
  • Membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional institution; for example, ICE, IStruct

  • Experience in developing robust and efficient structural solutions and managing technical delivery in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience in structural design using appropriate standards and specification.
  • Strong collaboration and coordination skills between teams, clients and stakeholders.
  • Passion for delivering technical solutions and leading technical teams.
