Junior Electrical Estimator

Position: Junior Electrical Estimator (Permanent)
Role Overview :
Working with the Estimating Manager, you will be mentored to learn how to price electrical services for D&B and pre-designed electrical installation projects in a rail environment, including depot new build and refurbishments, platform lighting and power, security including CCTV and data.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist in producing electrical cost estimates from drawings, specifications and tender documents

* Learn to carry out quantity take-offs for lighting, power, containment, fire alarm and related systems

* Learn to obtain and review supplier and subcontractor quotations

* Support the preparation and submission of tenders

* Help maintain estimating spreadsheets and cost databases

* Liaise with project, commercial and procurement teams

Ensure tender deadlines are met.

Requirements

Essential:

* Basic knowledge of electrical installations

* Good numeracy and attention to detail

* Competent in Microsoft Excel and Office

* Ability to read technical drawings (or willingness to learn)

* Strong organisational and communication skills

Desirable:

* Electrical or Building Services qualification (e.g., Level 3, HNC/HND)

* Experience in construction or electrical contracting (including apprenticeship)

* Familiarity with BS 7671 and UK industry practices

* Exposure to estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Amtech)
