Pastoral Officer (Safeguarding & Attendance) Long term with possibility to become permanent
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and highly organised Pastoral Officer to join our thriving Special Education School providing programmes of education to pupils identified as being at risk of exclusion.
This is a vital role supporting pupils, families, and staff by leading on attendance, safeguarding, and pastoral matters, ensuring that every child is safe, supported, and able to engage positively with their education.

Pay: £28-£31k per annum
Location:
S43 across multiple sites - driving licence and business insurance is essential
As the Pastoral Officer (Safeguarding & Attendance), you will play a central role in:
- Leading, monitoring, and reporting on safeguarding and pastoral concerns
- Acting as a key point of contact for staff, parents/carers, social workers, and external agencies
- Promoting excellent attendance and punctuality across the provision
- Supporting vulnerable pupils to overcome barriers to learning
- Identify, monitor, and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with statutory guidance
- Liaise effectively with parents/carers, social workers, and multi-agency partners
- Maintain accurate safeguarding records and contribute to reports and meetings
- Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support pupils wellbeing and behaviour
- Ensure confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information
- Monitor, track, and analyse pupil attendance and punctuality
- Carry out first-day calling and follow up on unexplained or persistent absences
- Liaise with families regarding attendance concerns in a supportive and solution-focused manner
- Produce attendance reports for senior leaders, pastoral teams, and external agencies
- Support attendance panels, meetings, and referrals as required
- Ensure compliance with school attendance policies and Department for Education guidance
- Work closely with safeguarding and pastoral teams to identify pupils at risk
